I’m Emmie, founder of FJH Bookkeeping Services.
I’ve worked in accountancy for over 10 years, but FJH was built from a very simple idea: business owners deserve more from their accountant than a set of accounts and a tax bill once a year.
I wanted to build the kind of practice I’d want beside me as a business owner - approachable, proactive and genuinely invested in the businesses that we work with.
How FJH Started
My route into accountancy wasn't particularly planned. I started out in hospitality, where I discovered I was far more interested in the P&L, budgets and numbers behind the business than I probably should have been.
That led me to study AAT, move into accountancy practice and eventually teach AAT myself. Teaching gave me something I've carried into FJH ever since — I don't just want to give someone a number; I want them to understand what it means.
After starting a family, I wanted to build a career that worked differently. At the same time, I kept finding myself helping friends who ran businesses but struggled to keep on top of the financial side. FJH grew from there.
FJH Today
What started with me helping a handful of business owners has grown into a busy accountancy practice supporting businesses across a wide range of industries.
Today, FJH is a small team, which means we can offer a wider range of support while still keeping the personal approach the practice was built on. We work closely with our clients throughout the year – keeping the day-to-day finances under control, meeting the compliance deadlines and helping business owners understand what their numbers are actually telling them.
I’m still very much involved with our clients, but my role is increasingly focused on reviewing, planning and looking at the bigger picture – making sure we’re not just looking backwards at what’s already happened, but helping clients plan for what comes next.
When I'm not working...
When I’m not working, I’m usually with my family. I’m a mum of three and happiest outdoors - whether that’s camping in a field in North Wales, getting out for a walk with the dog, or being dragged along on whatever adventure the kids have planned.
FJH was originally built to give me more flexibility around family life, and that still matters to me today.
